Cesspool cleaning is so important to get. So many times people really put this off till the very end when they actually have a problem that the are rushing to the phone at night and trying to call any type of cesspool company that they can find.
Just think that the stink is really coming over your entire place like some sort of fungus. What if you have a landlord from hell, and because you took so long to do something have the septic tank pumped.
Do you really have the time to negotiate with Mr Grumpy to really get the work that needs to be done.
Recently I had someone tell of a person that they knew that went through cesspool maintenance hell with their Landlord.
It was a 2 bathroom ranch with one of the bathrooms in basement. The house was built in 1972 so it is not a modern septic system that has a soil absorption area, septic tank in addition to the cesspools which act as overflows.
So because it was not modern and no cesspool pumping or maintenance had been done since the stone age, They constantly and problems with sewage overflows occurring in the basement bathroom.
Imaging being in the bathroom and you are taking a shower and the water starts to back up. Now normally you would not be concerned about that, because let's face it, the drain can back up when their is a hair build up.
But when the sludge that bubbles up is brown, you know you need some serious cesspool service right now.
Well, this landlord would only have cesspool pumping done. Now while this may work if the system is properly functioning, in this case it was not and they usually got a bathroom surprise about once every 3 months!
Actually from what I understand, it frequency of the cesspool system being pumped actually increase over time. It was slow and steady march to poopoo hell. The landlord just did not want to spend the money and in the end, he had no other choice
Basically the overflow exit was blocked by corrosion and other matter after a video inspection was done. At this point you are looking at some serious cesspool restoration cost.
So the owner had to get some major excavation done, plus had he had to have some major environmental cleanup because if the level of waste water saturating the ground.
He tried to be cheap, in the end it cost him thousands to have a cesspool service come out to the house. This was a cost that could have been avoided.
